چکیده

The acetic acid bacteria classifi ed in the genus Gluconobacter Asai 1935 were divided into two groups on the basis of DNA base composition (Yamada and Akita, 1984). One is a higher DNA G+C content group, which contains Gluconobacter oxydans (Henneberg 1897) De Ley 1961 (the type species), Gluconobacter albidus (ex Kondo and Ameyama 1958) Yukphan et al. 2005, Gluconobacter kondonii Malimas et al. 2008, Gluconobacter roseus (ex Asai 1935) Malimas et al. 2008, Gluconobacter sphaericus (Ameyama 1975) Malimas et al. 2008, and Gluconobacter kanchanaburiensis Malimas et al. 2009, and the other is a lower DNA G+C content group, which contains Gluconobacter cerinus Yamada and Akita 1984, Gluconobacter frateurii Mason and Claus 1989, Gluconobacter thailandicus Tanasupawat et al. 2005, and Gluconobacter japonicus Malimas et al. 2009 (Gosselé et al., 1983; Katsura et al., 2002; Malimas et al., 2007, 2008a, b, 2009a, b; Mason and Claus, 1989; Skerman et al., 1980; Tanaka et al., 1999; Tanasupawat et al., 2004; Yamada and Akita, 1984; Yamada et al., 1999; Yukphan et al., 2004d). Of the two groups, the former has DNA base composition ranging from 59.4 to 60.5 mol% G+C and does not grow without nicotinic acid, and the latter has DNA base composition rangJ. Gen. Appl. Swingsia samuiensis gen. nov., sp. nov., an osmotolerant acetic acid bacterium in the α-Proteobacteria.

The genus Saccharibacter Jojima et al. 2004 was taxonomically unique from the osmophilic point of view: no growth is found on 1.0% D-glucose w/v, differing from any other acetic acid bacteria, the oxidation of acetate is negative, the lactate oxidation is weakly positive, and growth is not found in the presence of 0.35% acetic acid v/v (Jojima et al., 2004). In a previous study, the present aut...

Taxonomic characterization of Ketogulonigenium vulgare gen. nov., sp. nov. and Ketogulonigenium robustum sp. nov., which oxidize L-sorbose to 2-keto-L-gulonic acid.

Four bacterial strains that oxidize L-sorbose to 2-keto-L-gulonic acid, a key intermediate in the synthesis of vitamin C, were isolated from soils of geographically distinct locations. All were Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, chemoheterotrophic rods. Comparative analysis revealed nearly identical 16S rDNA sequences amongst them (99.7-100% identical) and identified them as members of the...

Salipiger mucescens gen. nov., sp. nov., a moderately halophilic, exopolysaccharide-producing bacterium isolated from hypersaline soil, belonging to the alpha-Proteobacteria.

Salipiger mucescens gen. nov., sp. nov. is a moderately halophilic, exopolysaccharide-producing, Gram-negative rod isolated from a hypersaline habitat in Murcia in south-eastern Spain. The bacterium is chemoheterotrophic and strictly aerobic (i.e. unable to grow under anaerobic conditions either by fermentation or by nitrate or fumarate respiration). It does not synthesize bacteriochlorophyll a...

Acetobacter fabarum sp. nov., an acetic acid bacterium from a Ghanaian cocoa bean heap fermentation.

Six acetic acid bacterial isolates, obtained during a study of the microbial diversity of spontaneous fermentations of Ghanaian cocoa beans, were subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. (GTG)(5)-PCR fingerprinting grouped the isolates together, but they could not be identified using this method. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences allocated the isolates to the genus Acetob...
